Join MMA to celebrate ice climbing. The primary aim of this event is to provide a venue for competent and aspiring ice climbers alike to learn new skills. MMA's instructors will be offereing a variety of workshops:

ABC's of Ice Climbing, Ice Anchors & The V-thread, Placing Screws on Lead, and Piton Craft

There will be morning and afternoon sessions, so participants can sign up for two workshops. A chili lunch and hot drinks will be provided in between workshops.

MMA will supply some technical ice climbing gear and will be hosting an evening social at Wild Joes Coffee Shop on the eve of the event. PARTICIPANTS WILL NEED TO PROVIDE THEIR OWN ICE CLIMBING BOOTS. These can be rented at Northern Lights Trading Co, and Prolite Gear, you can also often find them at Second Wind Sports for a good price, or heck... borrow from a friend! At the social participants will have the opportunity to register for the event, ask questions about gear, and view two media presentations:

Kevin Brumbach will present 'Ascending Alaska's Mt. Huntington' a slideshow

CJ Carter & Ryan Minton awardees of the 2011 Hans Saari Fund Grant for Ski Exploration will present a test screening of their film 'Altai Story: Life & Decent in the Mountains of West Mongolia'

The ultimate goal of this event is to have a good time, meet other ice climbers, and swing some tools.

Cost per person:

$20.00

Dates:
